The fine print
Terms & Conditions
Effective 28 August 2026
The short version
- You are buying an advertising slot on a picture of a map — not land, and not an investment.
- Anyone can take your spot at any moment by paying the formula price. No notice, no compensation.
- Nothing is refunded. That is the deal, and it is the whole reason the board moves.
The summary is here for convenience. The numbered sections below are the terms that bind.
Agreeing to these terms
MarkYours (“MarkYours”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Varun Chaudhary. These Terms & Conditions are the agreement between you and us for your use of https://markyours.lol and everything on it.
By using the site, and in particular by paying for a claim, you confirm that you have read these terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree with any part of them, do not use the site and do not buy anything on it.
What you are buying — and what you are not
MarkYours is an advertising board drawn as a world map. Paying for a claim buys you one thing: the right to have your name, logo, tagline, and link shown on the territory you claimed, for as long as nobody outbids you.
You are not buying land, real estate, sovereignty, a security, a token, a share, or any legal interest of any kind in any continent, country, or territory on Earth. The map is a graphic. The words “claim”, “territory”, “conquer”, and “hold” are how we describe an advertising slot, and nothing more. Nothing on this site creates any right, title, or ownership recognised by any government.
Nor is a claim an investment. It has no resale value, it is not transferable, it cannot be redeemed for money, and it does not entitle you to any share of what later buyers pay.
Who may use the site
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. If you are claiming on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it, and “you” in these terms means both you and that organisation.
You must not use the site if sanctions or the laws of your country prohibit you from doing so.
What a claim costs
The price to take a territory is set by a formula, not by us case by case, and not by an auction:
(current bid + $1.00) × 1.5
An unclaimed territory starts from a $1.00 base, so it opens at $1.50. You may choose to pay more than that minimum — paying more simply raises what the next challenger must pay to take it from you. You can never pay less.
The world bundle buys all seven continents at once, priced at what they would cost individually, less a discount, subject to a minimum bundle price.
The price is recalculated on our server, from the live state of the map, at the moment your claim is created. That figure is the authoritative one. A price shown in your browser is a display convenience and can go out of date within seconds — if somebody claims a territory while you are filling in the form, the price will have moved. All prices are in US dollars.
Payment
Payments are processed by Razorpay, our payment gateway. Razorpay handles the checkout and the payment method; your card details are entered into Razorpay’s checkout and are never received or stored by MarkYours.
Unlike a reseller arrangement, Razorpay is a payment processor and not the merchant of record. Varun Chaudhary is the seller for every claim on this site, and is who you are contracting with. That means any question about a charge, a refund, or an invoice comes to us at contact@markyours.lol — not to Razorpay.
The price shown at checkout is the amount charged, in US dollars. Varun Chaudhary is responsible for accounting for any tax due on the sale; where tax must be added rather than included, that will be shown before you pay. Razorpay’s own terms and privacy notice apply to the payment alongside these terms, and the descriptor on your statement may name Razorpay or MarkYours.
A claim only takes effect when payment is confirmed. Starting a checkout, closing the tab mid-payment, or a payment that is declined or left incomplete grants you nothing. Until confirmation arrives, the territory stays available to everyone else — and if somebody else’s payment confirms first, yours will not be granted even though you started sooner. Where a payment is taken but the territory can no longer be granted (because it was taken in the meantime), we will refund that payment.
No refunds
Claims are final and non-refundable. Once your claim is granted, we do not refund it — not if you change your mind, not if you are outbid a minute later, not if you decide the traffic was not worth it, and not if you paid more than the minimum.
This is the central rule of the site and it is stated before you pay. You are buying an exposed position, priced accordingly, and the risk that somebody takes it from you is the product.
The exception is section 5: if we take payment and cannot grant the territory, you get your money back. Nothing in this section affects any refund right you have under mandatory consumer law in your own country that cannot be waived by agreement, or any chargeback right you have with your own card issuer or bank.
Being outbid
Every territory is permanently for sale, including yours. Anyone may take it at any time by paying the formula price in section 4. There is no notice period, no right of first refusal, no option to match, and no minimum time you are guaranteed to hold anything.
When you are outbid your content is removed from the map immediately. You are not compensated, and you receive no share of what the new claimant paid. You are free to claim it back at the new, higher price.
What you upload
When you claim, you provide:
- a product or company name, up to 30 characters;
- a link to a working
httporhttpsweb page; - a logo image, uploaded through our form;
- optionally a short tagline, up to 60 characters; and
- a territory colour, chosen from a fixed palette.
You confirm that you own this content or have permission to use it, that it does not infringe anyone’s trade marks, copyright, or other rights, and that the link points to a site you are entitled to promote.
You keep ownership of everything you upload. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, resize, and publicly display it on the site, in the live feed, in the shared social preview images, and in our own promotional material about MarkYours. That licence lasts while your claim is live and for a reasonable period afterwards for cached copies, archives, and past-holder history.
Content we will not carry
Do not claim a territory for any of the following:
- anything illegal where we or a substantial part of our audience are;
- malware, phishing, scams, or a link that redirects to any of those;
- sexual content involving minors, or any child sexual abuse material;
- pornography, gore, or shock content;
- content that harasses, threatens, defames, or incites violence or hatred against a person or group;
- impersonation of another business or person, including logos and names you have no right to use;
- unlicensed financial, pharmaceutical, gambling, or other regulated offerings; or
- anything designed to deceive a visitor about who they are dealing with.
We may remove any claim that breaks these rules, or that we reasonably judge harmful to the site or its visitors, at any time and without notice. A claim removed for this reason is not refunded, and the territory returns to the map at its current price.
Links out, and click counts
A claimant’s logo links out through a redirect on our domain, which counts the click before sending the visitor on. The destination is read from the claim record, never from the request, so the link always goes where the claimant said it goes. We count clicks in aggregate; we do not build a profile of who clicked.
We do not endorse, vet, or take responsibility for any site we link to. Following a link takes you off MarkYours and onto somebody else’s terms.
Using the site properly
You agree not to:
- interfere with the pricing or claim mechanics, including by manipulating amounts sent from your browser, replaying requests, or attempting to be granted a territory you did not pay for;
- inflate click counts, viewer counts, or the live feed by automated means;
- scrape, overload, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure; or
- use the site to send unsolicited messages or to distribute anyone’s data.
We rate-limit and monitor for this. Where we find it, we may remove the claim without a refund and block further access.
The information we hold
MarkYours has no accounts and no login. The display name and country you pick are stored in your own browser, and the claim record holds what you chose to publish — your name, link, logo, tagline, and colour — which is public by design.
We see standard technical information such as IP address for rate limiting and abuse prevention, and an approximate count of people viewing the map at once. Card and billing information is held by Razorpay under its own privacy notice, not by us.
If you want a past claim’s content removed from our records, write to us at contact@markyours.lol. Our privacy policy sets out the whole of it — what is collected, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to delete.
Our own rights
The site, its name, design, map, code, and copy belong to us and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Claiming a territory gives you no right to use them beyond viewing the site normally and saying, accurately, that you hold a territory on it.
Availability
MarkYours is offered as it is. It is a young product and is marked as such. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption, that the map will always be up to date on your screen, that a claim will produce any particular amount of traffic, or that it will produce any traffic at all.
We may change how the site works, adjust the pricing formula for future claims, add or remove territories, or take the site down. If we discontinue the site altogether, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising out of your use of MarkYours.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you for all claims taken together is limited to the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnity
You will indemnify us against any claim, loss, or cost — including reasonable legal fees — arising from content you published on the site, from the site you linked to, or from your breach of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page always shows the current version. Changes apply to claims made after they are published; they do not retroactively change the terms of a claim you have already paid for. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them — except where mandatory consumer law in your own country gives you the right to bring proceedings locally. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
